When installing WIDEImage, my scanner asks for a serial number.  When I enter my scanner's serial number, it doesn't work.
The serial required is the software serial number, found only on the packaging for WIDEImage.

What SCSI controller should I use with my CalComp scanner?

Adaptec's 2910 (PCI) SCSI controller is preferred, but their 1505 (ISA), 2930 (PCI) or the 2940 (PCI) SCSI controllers may also be used with our large-format scanners.  See Adaptec's Web site for more information or to obtain updated drivers.

Why do I receive the message "No ASPI32 driver installed"  when I run the CADImage/SCAN software?
CADImage/SCAN versions 3.8 and later were written for the latest release of Adaptec's ASPI32 layer.  The ASPI32 layer included on the Windows95/NT CD is not the latest release.  An updated ASPI32 (ASPI32.exe) layer can be downloaded from Adaptec's Web site.

Why do I receive the message "Unable to adjust camera '?' up" when I power up my scanner?

Most likely there is foreign material on the glass or the white background plate that lies against the glass.  Clean the glass and background plate and restart the computer and scanner.

Why do I receive the message "No SCSI board found" after installing and trying to use CADImage/SCAN on my PC?
The SCSI board is not installed correctly within Windows95/NT.  Refer to the documentation that was supplied with your SCSI controller.

Why do I receive the message "Scanner not found" when I go into CADImage/SCAN?
CADImage/SCAN searches the SCSI bus looking for the CalComp scanner.  This message states that Windows is not logging this as a valid device.  The problem may be due to the scanner being turned on after the computer.  Always turn on the scanner before the computer.  If a device is not present and ready during the Windows SCSI probe during boot-up, it will not install that device.

What is the maximum length for a USB cable?
The maximum length for a USB cable is 5 meters (197 inches). The power transferred through a USB cable that is greater than 5 meters in length will start to decrease, and the device may not function properly.

How fast is USB?
The maximum data transfer rate for USB 1.1 is 12Mbps (12,000,000 million bits per second).
The maximum data transfer rate for USB 2.0 is 480Mbps (480,000,000 million bits per second).

Will my USB 1.1 scanner work with my new computer using USB 2.0?
Yes, USB 2.0 is backward compatible with USB 1.1.

Can my USB scanner be plugged into a hub?
Yes, as long as the hub uses an external power supply. We do not recommend or support this configuration. Before requesting help from Technical Support, please try connecting the device directly to the computer's USB port.

What is Enumeration?
Enumeration happens when a Plug-N-Play device is plugged in or is unplugged. This signals Windows to load or unload a driver for the corresponding device. If a driver has not been loaded or can’t be found, Windows will ask for the driver.

How much power does the USB bus supply?
The USB bus supplies 0.5 watts minimum and 2.5 watts maximum of power per peripheral. A total of 60 watts maximum power per USB bus.

How many USB devices can be connected at the same time on one USB bus?
The USB specification calls out a total of 127 devices per bus.
