Setup 23xxx tablet without using the menu strip

A.   If your 2300 Digitizer DOES NOT HAVE a menu strip with which you can change the tablet settings, you either have a
Fixed Setting Board, (pre Aug, 1988), or may have simply misplaced the menu strip, (which is removable, on a Multiple
Format Board).  The purpose of the menu strip is to enable you to easily change the board settings in order to meet the
configuration settings required by software packages and the CalComp Digitizer & Mouse Drivers.

B.   Determining Board Type:

     1.   Type the following statement at the DOS prompt to change the board to the GTCO settings which are required
by Windows 3.x & AutoCAD for Windows:

          MODE COMx: 9600,O,8,1
          ECHO 2GOj>COMx

The x in COMx above represents either a 1 or 2, depending on the COM port the digitizer is plugged into on your
computer. Most IBM-Compatible computers come standard with two serial ports (COM1 and COM2).

     2.   After the above statement has been typed in switch into the C:\CALDB Directory created during the original install.

          a.   Type CD\CALDB [ENTER] at any DOS prompt.

          b.   At the DOS prompt, type CCMOUSE /C1.  If the board is plugged into COM1, it should find it automatically.

          c.   If the board is plugged into COM2, type:

               CCMOUSE   /P2

          d.   If the message, "Tablet not Found..." appears, see Section C, Fixed Setting Board.

          e.   If the message "Tablet driver loaded ...and...found on COM1 or 2" appears then you have a Multiple Format
Board. See Section D, Multiple Format Board

C.   Fixed Setting Board (pre Aug, 1988)

     1.   Place the following Mode & Echo statements into the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

These statements will allow the board to be automatically configured upon boot-up to the GTCO settings used in
          AutoCAD.

     2.   This board defaults to a Summgraphics MM-1201 format when reset.  Because of the reset and configuration
commands our drivers send to the 2300 series tablet, the Fixed Setting Board is unable to use the current driver
           set.

D.   Multiple Format Board (post Aug, 1988)

     1.   Place the following Mode & Echo statements into the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

          MODE COMx: 9600,O,8,1
          ECHO 2GOj>COMx

     2.   This board can use the most current driver set for the DrawingBoard series of digitizers.  Protected mode ADI drivers
for AutoCAD as well as Microsoft Mouse emulation drivers are available in the latest 2.x release.

NOTE:  The Wintab™ 2.x Driver is available by downloading the file from the CalComp BBS at (714) 236-3045 or
          Intenet site at www.calcomp.com

     3.   Install the portion of the Digitizer Mouse Driver Set ver. 2.x to be used.  If you have AutoCAD for Windows, you will
want the Windows portion of the Digitizer & Mouse Driver installed and working properly.
