General Information
Description
The InterWrite Suite of products and services was designed to make
collaboration in the workplace and school efficient and simple. The InterWrite
software included with the InterWrite products accomplishes this with the
following tools:
-
Interactive Mode: Operate and
annotate any application. Save and email the results. When used with an
InterWrite Whiteboard, a projector is required.
-
Whiteboard Mode: Dry Erase on
an InterWrite Whiteboard. Save, print and email the image. Used with
a Whiteboard only - without a projector.
-
IW Device Manager: Driver for
the InterWrite Whiteboards and Pads listed below in the 'Supported
Devices' section.

Operating
Notes
-
Handwriting
Recognition (Inkwell) is supported only in OS X 10.4 or greater. The user
should not attempt to install this
component of the InterWrite application, when
prompted, on a 10.3 or 10.2 system.
-
The
"Ink" System Preferences panel is activated only when a GTCO CalComp
USB SchoolBoard, MeetingBoard, SchoolPad, MeetingPad, iPanel, or one of the
Ezurio
Bluetooth devices, is plugged in. Even when a Mac has a Bluetooth device built
in, GTCO CalComp's Ezurio module must be plugged in before the "Ink" System
Preference panel will display. Once the "Ink" preferences have been
established, the Ezurio module can be unplugged, and handwriting recognition will
work properly.
The user must
plug the device in after logging in for the "Ink" preference panel
to display. If the device, or module, is already plugged in when they log in,
they must unplug it and plug it back in.
When
operating in Whiteboard Mode, the cursor pointer on the computer screen remains
where the system mouse last pointed. The electronic
InterWrite Pen draws correctly on the Whiteboard, but the pen pointer does not follow
it on the computer screen.
Known
Issues - InterWrite
Known
Issues - Device Manager
-
When the upper button on the side of the
Pen( sometimes referred to as the right
button) is used to perform a Ctrl-Click,
depress and hold down the button for a
beat or two before releasing it. If you
press this button two or more times
in rapid succession, the system may enter a state where it
appears that no button presses were processed, either from the
Pen, or from the
mouse. The cursor will move, but no button presses/clicks are processed. To get
out of this state, hold
the Pen close to Whiteboard or Pad and press the
upper button on the Pen an additional one or two
times. The
system will return to normal.
-
Occasionally, Bluetooth Whiteboards may spontaneously
disconnect. Usually this happens after a long period of
inactivity.
On
the other hand, a Whiteboard disconnect can also occur when
there is an extensive use of other Bluetooth devices.
-
If a Bluetooth device is turned on while Device Manager
is attempting to connect to it, Device Manager may report that the device
successfully connected, the device may beep to signal connection, and the user
may even be able to manually beep the device, but mouse position input from the
device may not be processed. In this case, the device should be manually
disconnected and connected again.
-
On the “Select Bluetooth Service” dialog, a
list of previously connected devices is maintained. If one of these devices fails
to connect when it is selected, change the “Device Category” pop-up from the
default setting of “All Categories” to “Discovered Devices.” Then, click on
the Search button to scan for all currently available
devices.
-
If a Bluetooth USB
adapter is disconnected from the computer
while a Bluetooth device is connected, Bluetooth communications can be permanently disabled,
and the computer has to be rebooted. Simply plugging the
adapter back in does not fix the problem.
-
Programmable buttons can be programmed to perform
InterWrite functions or launch applications. They cannot be programmed to
launch files in the application associated with the
file.
-
In the
“Select Bluetooth Service” dialog, there is no way of distinguishing between different
devices of the same type. All Whiteboards will display the same
device name, as will all Pads of the same type. It is
recommended that the “Local Name” option under the “Device Properties” button be used to give
each device a unique name. Note: unique names will appear for the MeetingPad
400 and SchoolPad 400.
-
The Caps Lock and
Shift Lock keys on the onscreen keyboard do not
work.
Installation Information
Installing
the InterWrite software from the InterWrite CD
-
Insert the InterWrite CD. Double click on the CD icon
that appears on your desktop. Double click on the Install InterWrite
icon to launch the installation.
-
Follow the onscreen instructions to
complete the installation of the InterWrite software.

a Partial Screen Capture tool to the Toolbox and another to the Insert menu.
The Partial Screen Capture tool displays a cross that you use to drag over the
portion of the screen you want to capture. The Toolbox Partial Screen Capture
tool adds the partial screen capture to a new page, while the Insert Partial
Screen Capture tool inserts it on the current page. Use the Selection tool to
move either partial screen capture around on the page.

Added a Pictures directory that
has a library of graphics that can be used with the Insert Picture menu
option.

page.

rectangles.

did not split polylines.
-
The Floating
Toolbar would sometimes go off the edges of the screen.
-
After
an entry is pasted, right-click option does not show color and width.
-
After
moving or sizing a selected object, with the selection box gone, the
object could still be cut or
copied.
-
Changed automatic file name syntax to match
InterWrite for Windows.
-
GWBs
saved in one resolution do not display correctly when read in at another
resolution.
-

User
was unable to copy or paste a copied picture.
-
The
cursor sometimes disappeared.
-

a USB device while its Property window is displayed causes a crash.

-
Stretched
polylines, lines and rectangles that are erased do odd things.
-
Improved
the performance of the "View" menu.
-
Added
an Online Documentation hyperlink to the corporate Web site In the About box.
-
Increased
the maximum custom width to 100 (it was 60).
