GTCO Calcomp Enhances the ScanPlus IV Family of Scanners

New scanner offerings provide superior value for demanding GIS, reprographic and CAD applications.

October 4, 2002–GTCO CalComp announced today the enhancement of its ScanPlus IV family of large-format scanners with the introduction of six new models, plus improved capabilities of existing models.

The two new 36” models provide a cost-effective solution for black & white scanning, with up to 600 dpi image resolution and 3”/second scanning speed. The four new 40” color scanners' enhanced features include 42-bit color capture technology, four linear CCD cameras, up to 500 dpi resolution and a speed of up to 8”/second. The new 40” scanners also incorporate FireWire® as a connectivity feature, along with a SCSI interface. FireWire is "plug-n-play", making installation simpler compared to the more complex SCSI-based connections.

In addition to the new models, existing 25” and 36” models have been enhanced with increased scanning speeds—from 2.2” to 3”/second, to meet the scanning speed requirements of the CAD market.

“The increased scanning speed and broader product line provide our GIS, reprographic and CAD customers more features and more possibilities to meet their scanning needs,” says Rob Meissner, VP of Marketing. “Both the black & white and color ScanPlus IV scanners have new features and advances which provide professionals an edge in getting new business and expanding their current business.”

The ScanPlus IV family of versatile scanners provide upgradeability with the addition of a simple smart card. The upgrade, which can be done in the field, can add speed and in some cases enable a black & white scanner to perform color scanning.

Scan Plus IV scanners are available in a variety of models, offering scan widths from 25” to 50”, image resolution from 600 to 2400 dpi, and scan speeds up to 8”/second. The scanners come with a one-year on-site warranty in the Continental U.S. A variety of color and monochrome models are available, with prices starting as low as $8,900.
