Adapter Brings More Versatility to Digitizers
September 4, 2001—GTCO CalComp, Inc.
announced today the immediate release of their new USB-to-Serial Adapter
for their line of digitizers and CAD/graphics tablets. This new adapter
allows users to connect the serial port on their digitizer to the USB
port on Windows-based computers as a USB HID device.
With the addition of this new adapter,
digitizer users now have more options when purchasing a digitizer for a
specific system, allowing more room for other peripheral devices. The
USB-to-Serial Adapter brings a level of versatility to digitizer use,
which so far has been unattainable.
Priced at $99, the new USB-to-Serial
Adapter will operate with any of GTCO CalComp’s existing lines of
digitizers, including AccuTab, Surface-Lit AccuTab, DrawingBoard III,
Super L Series, Summagrid V and SummaSketch. Additionally, the adapter
will operate under Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium
Edition, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
Founded in 1975, GTCO was awarded a patent for the
invention of the world's first absolute-position electromagnetic
digitizing technology. Since then, GTCO CalComp has produced and now
supports over one million input systems in fifty countries around the
world, sold under some of the most recognized brand names in the
peripherals industry. With offices in Columbia MD, Scottsdale AZ and
Vienna Austria, GTCO CalComp continues to focus on developing input
peripherals that dramatically improve individual and group productivity
worldwide.
