GTCO CalComp Announces InterWrite PRS Software, Enhancing Classroom Response and
Assessment for Educators Worldwide

XML support and PowerPoint integration among key new features.

August 11, 2004 -- GTCO CalComp Inc. announced today the release of Version 3.00 of InterWrite PRS Software, a stand-alone application built with a standards-based approach. Developed using Java, InterWrite PRS provides cross-platform compatibility for both the Windows® and MAC OSX® operating environments. The new software provides a simple and easy-to-navigate add-in for PowerPoint® users as well as the ability to import questions created by book publishers using the industry-standard XML file format. Further, student response data is saved in a comma-delimited file format (.csv), allowing users to manage their data within the PRS software or using a variety of third party applications.

"Whether you are a teacher that wants to create questions within our application, leverage the features and functionality provided in PowerPoint, or take advantage of the content and questions provided by book publishers, the standards-based approach of InterWrite PRS software now provides you the flexibility to do so," said Rob Meissner, Vice President of Marketing. "In addition, the new software provides a simple and intuitive interface to manage class rosters, capture student answers, review session results, and administer a grade book. The impressive new set of features and industry standard approach makes PRS the most complete and flexible assessment tool for both the K-12 and higher education markets."

Features of the newly released InterWrite PRS Software include:

PowerPoint® Add-In (for Windows only)
Question Authoring tool that allows for quick creation of questions for your students
On-the-Fly question authoring to add a question in the middle of a session
Support for XML QTI standards for importing questions from textbook publishers and other data sources
Ability to import standard image files (.png, .gif, .jpg) for questions
Integrated grade book
Data saved in an industry standard format (Comma Delimited Format (.csv)) to allow for easy management, review, and editing by other application such as Excel or other grade book applications.
Cleaner, more intuitive user interface

InterWrite PRS software is included with the company’s InterWrite PRS (Personal Response System), formerly Educue PRS, the most widely adopted audience response system in the higher education market with over 250,000 users at over 300 universities. The InterWrite PRS Software is available from GTCO CalComp through its strategic partners and its extensive network of resellers.
